This is the keyboard that started it all for me. I saw this little thing
in Bob McRae's Music in Hilo, Hawaii. I had read a little about it in Keyboard
Magazine and they had mentioned that it had a new thing called a breath
controller. Always one to try new things for soloing, I picked it up for
the amazing price of $200. What a deal! An analog keyboard (One Oscillator
mind you) for a low cost with a novelty item called the breath controller.
I didn't know how to work the breath controller! What was I supposed to
do with this thing? It was weird and felt even worse in my mouth. However
eventually I reasoned that it probably would work best if it didn't make
a sound when I didn't blow (like a Saxophone) and that it would be cool
if it got brighter when I blew hard and louder as well.
I took this little thing to many gigs - it was strapped around my shoulder
while I played my Oberheim and DX7. I played it in the Airports and in jam
sessions. Eventually it started falling apart.
If you have one and wish to donate it to me. Do so please :-)
